Assignment #1 C.Burt

In the article, "Radical in the White House," posted in the New York Times on January 21, 2009, Thomas L. Friedman attempts to show that President Obama should have radical views, but he should also remember to do the little things along the way. I believe that Obama should have high goals, but they cannot be unattainable. I agree with Friedman's statement that Obama should swing for the fences, but he also has to remember to run the bases. If our President forgets to take things one step at a time, then our country will not get anything done and we will be in the same situation that we are in right now. Obama has to build the foundation before he attempts to put up the house, or the entire thing will come crumbling down. If Obama does everything correctly, he will go down in history as another Roosevelt or Johnson because he will be very successful and will help the American people get out of the crisis that we are in right now. All in all, I agree with Friedman's take on what Obama should do during his rule. I just hope he makes all the right decisions and remembers to take things one step at a time.
