Assignment #1 (C. Williamson)

The item that has been posted by Thomas L. Friedman singles out we, the American people, having a Radical in the White House. This New York Times reporter stated that as he was leaving the inaguration of President Barack Obama, he saw another African American with a shirt on that said "mission accomplished." This statement was written beause we now have the first Black president in the United States. Yet, how could our mission be accomplished when our economy is in the is in the position that it's in?

Great presidents such as Franklin Roosevelt and Bill Clinton helped rebuild our ecomomy and pass different laws. Yet as time progressed, after the 1990's the economy has only declined. Leaving us with things to worry about as a whole such as national debt and the Green-House effect, we are counting on our new President to guide us along rebuilding the nation. The question is...can it be accomplished? Looking back at the Great Depression, that is a question the history itself and a great leader can answer.

Though our leader plays a major role in our country, everything we contribute counts. So the basic point of this argument is," Do we really need another radical in the White House?" Honestly if we want our country to succeed, it would probably be best to keep them out. Therefore the audience is you. Rather it's voting or participating in a neighborhood activity, YOU and I are what actually make this country what it is.
